FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION? ... GONE! PDF Print E-mail

Gagged

The F.R.E.E AUSTRALIA PARTY strongly condemns any law that restricts harmless freedom of expression and supports freedom of expression when it comes to public debate, especially as it relates to the political arena.  It is an affront to our basic liberties that moves are afoot by a modern day elitist government to censor such things.  Laws that state that any who would make political comment must first identify themselves on the internet, and then to have their details stored on a database run contrary to our freedom of expression.

Those seeking to post in response to online newspaper articles may choose to use “disgusted of Croydon” to sign off an angry post; reaffirming the fact that they are indeed disgusted with a particular policy or particular politicians behaviour.  It is wrong for such things to be against the law.

During any debate or feedback the emphasis must be upon the content of what is said, not upon who says it.  It is governmental bullying of the nth degree to first demand that critics submit to naming themselves in order to be heard on the World Wide Web.  It is a sign of the insecurity of our government to contemplate making such a restriction in the first place, and a further sign that it has completely lost the plot to actually implement it.

This further demonstrates the reason why we demand a legislated Bill of Rights, in which the concept “Freedom of Expression” is to be set in stone, along with “Freedom of Association”, and “Freedom of Movement”.  These are inalienable Rights to all humans.
